AMERICORPS - NATIONAL CIVILIAN COMMUNITY CORPS, Capital Region Campus (Washington, DC)

Project Director- Established annual strategic plans to identify and develop fulltime community-based service learning projects which focused on the environment, education, unmet human needs, and public safety for 140 Corps Members. Traveled throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia performing public liaison and marketing functions to identify and attract projects with community, state, and federal entities in the region. Established, evaluated and revised campus operating methods related to projects. PEACE CORPS, Nicaragua (Washington, DC)

Urban Youth Development Volunteer- Facilitated positive growth of at-risk youth (ages 10 – 25) in Bluefields, Nicaragua. Focused on leadership development, health education, life skills and building self-esteem by teaching English & Creative Writing, coaching soccer, facilitating youth leadership workshops, and coordinating experiential learning projects. Selection and Placement Officer- Determined AmeriCorps«NCCC recruitment objectives and strategies, with special emphasis on minority recruitment. Researched, developed and facilitated strategies to promote minority recruitment. Coordinated AmeriCorps«NCCC attendance and logistical activities associated with national conventions, conferences, workshops, speaking engagements and other special events. Coordinated national recruitment, selection and placement of more than 1,000 AmeriCorps«NCCC Corps Members nationwide. (August 1996 – July, 1997)

AMERICORPS - NCCC, Southeast & Central Region Campuses (Charleston, SC & Denver, CO)
Team Leader- Managed, through guidance, support and inspiration, teams of eleven young men and women (ages 18-24) in a team-based residential program of fulltime community service. Implemented and facilitated service learning plans, of which education and training were integral components of the curriculum. Served as liaison between my teams, project sponsors, and AmeriCorps«NCCC staff while managing community-based service projects focusing on public safety, unmet human needs, education, and the environment.
